Welcome to Tough Love Tía
If you've made it to this blog, chances are one of two things is true: you're already a client, and you're nosy (respect 😏), or you found your way here because something in your life needs a little untangling and you're not sure where to start.
Either way — pull up a chair. Let me tell you why this blog is called what it is and my intentions.
Where Does "Tough Love Tía" Comes From
Every family has one. The tía who shows up with a plate of food before you've even asked, who will absolutely let you cry on her couch for as long as you need — and who will also, in the very same conversation, tell you exactly what you don't want to hear. No shame. No lecture. Just the truth, served with coffee and pan dulce, because she loves you too much to let you keep doing the thing that isn't working.
That's the energy I'm bringing here.
I'm Stephanie — a licensed therapist (LMFT), certified financial therapist (CFT-I), and the person behind TODOS Therapy. I work with high-achieving neurodivergent and BIPOC folks who are brilliant at holding everything together on the outside while quietly white-knuckling it on the inside — especially when it comes to money, and especially when it comes to the stuff nobody in our families ever taught us how to talk about.
I built my practice — and this blog — because so much of the mental health world wasn't built with us in mind. Not our culture, not our nervous systems, not the very real ways money and trauma tangle themselves together in Latinx and BIPOC households. So I built something else.
What You Can Expect Here
This isn't going to be a blog full of vague affirmations or a list of "5 tips" that assume you just haven't tried hard enough. Here's what you're actually going to get:
Straight talk about financial trauma — why your relationship with money isn't a willpower problem; it's a nervous system problem, and what that actually means for healing it.
Neurodivergent-affirming insight — on ADHD, autism, assessments, and what it looks like to stop pathologizing yourself for how your brain actually works.
Culturally grounded reflections — on what it means to heal in a Latinx or BIPOC body, in a family, in a system that wasn't designed with any of us in mind.
Zero judgment, zero sugarcoating — I'll validate what's real and gently (or not so gently) call out what's keeping you stuck. Both things, always together.
Think of this space as the corner of the kitchen table where the real conversations happen — the ones that start with "okay, but can I be honest with you?" and end with you seeing something about yourself a little more clearly than you did before.
Consider This Your Invitation
You don't have to have it all figured out to be here. You don't have to be in crisis, and you don't have to already be "doing the work" to read something here and feel a little less alone in it.
So, welcome. Grab a coffee. I've got things to tell you.
