Inside the Financial Therapy Intensive
How Brainspotting Helps You Untangle Trauma From Your Bank Account
The TODOS Therapy Financial Therapy Intensive is a 6-session therapy program that uses Brainspotting — a body-based trauma therapy — to work through the nervous-system roots of money shame, avoidance, and underearning, not just the budgeting behaviors sitting on top of them.
If you've done the reading, listened to the podcasts, and can recite your own money story back to me in perfect clinical language and it still hasn't changed a single thing about how you actually behave around money — this was built for you.
Why insight alone doesn't fix it
Most financial advice assumes the problem is information. Learn the budgeting method, understand the psychology, and the behavior will follow. For a lot of people, especially people carrying financial trauma, that's not how it works. You can know exactly why you freeze at your bank app and still freeze. Insight and behavior change live in different parts of the nervous system, and talk therapy — as good as it is at building insight — often can't reach the part that's actually driving the freeze.
That's the gap Brainspotting is built to close.
What Brainspotting actually does here
I'm Brainspotting Level 1 trained, and I use it throughout every session of this intensive — not as an occasional add-on, but as the core mechanism of the work. Brainspotting uses your visual field to locate where activation is held in the body, and processes it directly, without requiring you to talk your way to a solution. For financial trauma specifically, that means we're not just discussing the shame spiral after an impulse purchase or the freeze before opening a bill — we're processing what's actually driving it at the nervous-system level.
This work also draws on the Financial Therapy Association's framework for money scripts, financial origin stories, and how identity and systemic oppression shape financial behavior. Your relationship with money didn't form in a vacuum, and this intensive doesn't treat it like it did.
What the six sessions actually cover
Getting Grounded — your money story, at your own pace, plus an intro to how Brainspotting works
Where Your Money Story Started — mapping the scripts you inherited from family and culture
Naming the Shame — identifying your shame patterns and beginning to process them
The Freeze Point — deeper processing on whatever financial task or trigger you avoid most
Worth & Earning — unpacking underearning, undercharging, and what you believe you deserve
Your Nervous-System-Informed Money Practice — building a money routine that actually fits your brain
Two optional catch-up sessions are available afterward, whenever you want to check in, revisit something that's shifted, or get a booster before a big financial moment — no set topic required.
This is therapy, not financial coaching
I want to be direct about this: I'm not going to teach you a budgeting app or give you financial advice. This is clinical work aimed at the trauma response itself — the freeze, the shame, the avoidance — using the same seriousness I'd bring to any other trauma presentation.
Who this is for
High-achieving neurodivergent and BIPOC folks who understand their money patterns intellectually and still can't shift them. People who've done "the work" everywhere else and still can't make themselves open the app. People who are tired of being told the problem is discipline.
