Introducing the Financial Therapy Intensive: Where Brainspotting Meets Money Trauma

I'm opening up a new offering built specifically for the moment talk therapy runs out of road: the Financial Therapy Intensive, a short-term, deep-dive therapy program that uses Brainspotting to get underneath money patterns that insight alone has never touched.

If you've done the work — read the books, tried the budgeting apps, even talked through your money history in therapy — and you still freeze at your bank app, still undercharge for your own work, still can't explain why knowing better hasn't changed anything, this is built for you.

Why I Built This

I kept sitting across from clients who could explain their financial shame in perfect clinical language. They knew exactly where the scarcity came from. They could name the family money script, the systemic barrier, the moment they learned money wasn't safe to talk about. They'd tell me, almost word for word, the story of how it started — and then, in the very same session, describe freezing at their banking app that morning anyway.

That gap — between knowing and being able to act — is nervous system territory, not willpower territory. I could keep having beautifully insightful conversations with clients who left every session smarter about their money story and no more able to open a bill without their chest tightening. At some point I had to admit that insight was doing exactly what it's good at, and this particular problem needed something else.

Brainspotting, which I'm Level 1 trained in, works directly with that gap. It's a body-based approach that locates where activation lives and processes it there, instead of trying to talk someone out of a freeze response from the outside. This intensive is what happened when I stopped trying to make talk therapy do a job it was never built for, and built something that actually matches the problem.

Who This Is For

This isn't for someone who's never thought about their relationship with money before — that's a fine place to start, but it's not the gap this program addresses. This is for the person who's already done real reflection and still hits a wall. If any of this sounds familiar, you're exactly who I built this for:

  • You can explain your money story clearly, and explaining it hasn't changed your behavior.

  • You avoid checking your accounts, sometimes for weeks, even when you know avoidance is making things worse.

  • You underprice your own work and can logically list all the reasons you shouldn't — and price it low anyway.

  • You've done talk therapy, maybe even specifically on money, and hit a plateau you couldn't explain.

  • You're exhausted by advice that assumes the problem is information you don't have yet.

What's Actually In It

This isn't generic financial coaching with a therapy label on it. The Intensive draws on the Financial Therapy Association's framework for money scripts and financial identity, and moves through six core sessions:

  1. Getting Grounded — your money story, at your own pace, plus a gentle introduction to Brainspotting so you know what to expect before we go anywhere deeper.

  2. Where Your Money Story Started — mapping the scripts you inherited from family and culture, and starting to notice where those memories actually live in your body.

  3. Naming the Shame — identifying your freeze, fawn, flight, or fight pattern around money, and beginning to process the one that shows up most.

  4. The Freeze Point — going deeper into the exact task or trigger you avoid most, with extended processing and enough grounding at the end that you leave regulated, not raw.

  5. Worth & Earning — unpacking underearning, undercharging, and over-giving, and getting underneath what you actually believe you deserve.

  6. Your Nervous-System-Informed Money Practice — building a money ritual that fits your actual brain, not a generic productivity framework that was never built with you in mind.

Two optional catch-up sessions are available afterward too, for whenever you want to check back in — no pressure to use them, no set topic required. Some people finish the six sessions and feel complete. Others want a booster before a big financial decision, or a space to process something new that's come up since. Both are normal, and both are supported.

This Is Therapy, Not Coaching

I want to be direct about that distinction, because it matters, and because the line between financial therapy and financial coaching gets blurred constantly in marketing that isn't being honest about what it's actually offering.

This isn't financial advice and it isn't a budgeting plan. I'm not going to build you a spreadsheet or tell you which account to open. It's therapy for the part of you that learned money was dangerous, shameful, or not for people like you — using a modality built to work with exactly that kind of stuck pattern. If what you need is practical, tactical financial coaching alongside this kind of nervous-system work, that's a different tool with a different purpose, and I'd rather point you toward the right one than blur the line for the sake of a sale.

Pricing

The Intensive runs on an anti-oppressive sliding scale, from $150 to $300 per session depending on your tier, with the same access-first values that shape every part of my practice. That range exists on purpose — so that someone facing real financial precarity and someone with more financial flexibility can both access this work, at a rate that actually reflects their circumstances rather than a single price tag that quietly filters out the people who might need it most.

If This Is Landing For You

If you're tired of knowing what you "should" do and still not being able to do it, that exhaustion isn't a sign you're doing something wrong. It's a sign the tool you've been using — insight, alone — was never going to be enough to finish the job. I'd love to talk about whether this is the right next step.
